"Our Greatest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are POWERFUL BEYOND MEASURE. It is our light, not our darkness that frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am i to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? We were born to make manifest the glory of god within us.It's in everyone, its not just in some of us, and as we LET OUR OWN LIGHT SHINE, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same" -Marianne Williamson

Skin Inferiority Complex In Today's Society! 2014 is a new year but the view of skin color remains.
In this interview Rapper/ Entertainer Wale Folarin speaks made mention of how people seem to be more receptive to other rappers such as Drake and J.Cole. Ironically enough these two rappers are of lighter skin and wale as seen in the video above is a dark skin man. This right here is something society has conformed its people to believe is acceptable to do.. tear each other apart due to skin color. This is such a shame because during the Dr.Martin Luther King Jr. days, Rosa Parks days, and the civil rights days, African Americans fought so hard against stereotypes, discrimination, racism, and prejudice so that we all can be treated equally with high hopes that one day we wont be judged by our skin color and can all respect and love one another. I think Wale has a great point when he makes the statement: "But the loving of black people, the loving of our urban culture ..you know what i'm saying there's a big hole in that" This next statement explains even further from a black mans point of view , how damaging black people are to themselves knowingly. Interviewer: Where do you think this inferiority complex comes amongst our people? Wale: I don't know young, because its like dark men loves lightskin girls , dark men love light skin every- its such a like color conversation daily on social media, the filter game is showing us another of us, I dont know where it came from, WE CANT BLAME IT ON "THE MAN" THIS TIME ITS US. -Wale Folarin This statement right here explains to us that within the black community we embrace what we fought so hard against at one point in time. Honestly how can any African american person expect to be respected by any other race when we are CONSTANTLY putting eachother down because of our skin color !! BLACK IS BLACK.. lightskin and darkskin is NOT its own race.. At the same time social media, videos, and the new standards we set for ourselves don't help this problem either. The problem with this society is this, whenever your young, your mind is easily swayed in any given direction whether it is right , wrong, black or green. And Society glamorizes self- degrading things such as STRIPPING, SEX TAPES, VIOLENCE, AND INSECURITIES all in one. Why cant you be black and great? Why does it have to be red bone this or light skin that... Lighter skin / fair skin people do not make or break this world we live in so why they are constantly put on this pedestal like they are just the best thing since water is beside me. Every skin tone is beautiful and its messed up that it goes as far as people not being able to get good paying jobs because they are of a darker skin tone. Its called SELF DESTRUCTION and there is a lot of ignorant people in the black community who needs to wake up in time before they self destruct. There will come a time of whats in right now being out the window just like that.. Its better to love yourself and respect others than to hate yourself and tear others down for not looking how SOCIETY TELLS THEM THEY SHOULD LOOK. Realistically the average women does not look like what these video models suggest and the average man does not look like what the music videos suggest in every aspect ( financially, looks, game, lifestyle etc) PERIOD !!!
ONE VERY IMPORTANT ASPECT I WOULD LIKE FOR EVERYONE TO KNOW IS THIS, BLACK PEOPLE SIMPLY TREAT EACH OTHER BASED OFF OF HOW THE WHITE MAN HAS CONDITIONED THEM TO. JUST THINK BACK TO THE SLAVERY DAYS. LIGHTER SKINNED SLAVES GOT TREATED MORE FAIR AND HAD PRIVILEGES SUCH AS BEING HOUSE SLAVES VS BEING THE SLAVES ( DARKER SKINNED SLAVES) WHO DID HARSH LABOR IN THE SCORCHING HEAT. I THINK ITS IRONIC THAT SLAVERY HAPPENED YEARS AGO YET THE MENTALITY AND DESTRUCTION THAT COMES WITH IT IS AS STRONG AS IT WAS BACK THEN. SLAVERY, RACISM, AND BEING PREJUDICE IS IN RELATION TO ANYTHING FROM THE WORKPLACE TO EVEN THE TYPE OF FRIENDSHIPS YOU HAVE WITH PEOPLE. YOU EVER NOTICE THAT WHEN A BLACK PERSON IS SPEAKING PROPER, DRESSED APPROPRIATELY PEOPLE SAY THAT'S ACTING "WHTIE" . ALSO, WHEN A PERSON USES SLANG, EAT CHICKEN, AND THEIR HAIR IS OF A COARSE TEXTURE THAT'S CALLED BEING "GHETTO". MIND YOU NOT ALL WHITE PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME HAIR TEXTURE, AND CHICKEN IS A MEAT EVERYONE IN THE US EATS ALL IN EXCEPTION OF THE VEGETARIANS. THAT'S A MENTALITY THAT STILL EXIST TODAY AND ITS NOT BECAUSE BLACK PEOPLE JUST "MADE IT UP" OUT OF NO WHERE.
As a result of this slave mentality, Women are being put against each other , men are knowingly putting women against each other, and women also put men down for being "too dark" . AGAIN I SAY THIS, IF YOU THINK BACK WAY INTO SLAVERY DAYS.. AFRICANS AND AFRICAN AMERICANS WERE ALWAYS CONDITONED TO BELIEVE THAT DARK SKIN WAS UGLY AND TO HAVE FAIR/ LIGHTER SKIN WAS A PRIVILEGE. SO YES THE BLACK COMMUNITY SHOULD ACKNOWLEDGE THE FACT THEY ARE STILL LIVING WITH A SLAVE MENTALITY AND ALSO THE COMMUNITY WHO FIRST INSTALLED THIS MENTALITY SHOULD ACKNOWLEDGE THEIR ON GOING ACTIONS AS WELL. My black is beautiful and as a African American women i'm not going to put down the next. Be content and comfortable even though society wants you to be uncomfortable, society wants you to bleach your skin so they can do a segment about it on Oprah to once again talk down on Brownskin / Darkskin and put lightskin / fair skin women on a imaginary pedestal. Be your own person and dont take pride in the color of your skin but the person inside. You can be lightskin all day long but if your ugly and full of the superficial.. you'll never be happy. Happiness is what i believe people should strive to be before they leave this earth, not socially accepted.

Polish Me Dahhhlinnggg
Just A Glimpse Of My Growing Nail Polish Collection !!!
First off, I love SALLY HANSEN!! Her Insta-Dri;Fast dry nail polish is one of my favs! Next on my list would be WET N WILD. I like the Megalast salon nail colors with the pro brush feature. My third fav would absolutely be MAYBELLINE New York Color Show.. :) I love how pigmented the polish is. Also, it doesn't chip as fast ass other brands would. I have the clear coat and regular polish color for all three brands listed. The clear top coat really does help the polish stay on longer and helps with polish chipping as stated before. I love vibrant color nail polishes and how it looks against my skin tone :)

A Perfect FIT Foundation!
A few years ago I really got involved with makeup. During High school I went through every type of phase and makeup stages of learning what works , looks good, and compliments my facial feature and skin tone. I never was into foundation because I have always had great skin so I felt that it was not necessary. As a approached woman-hood, I then realized it is necessary to wear foundation while wearing makeup. I always thought I had to buy really really expensive foundation for my makeup to look right. LIES ! a few months ago on my first go around with foundation, a found the perfect shade for my skin tone! FIT me
by MAYBELINE shade 360 is the perfect match! it blends in with my skin perfectly and I do not have to mix and blend other shades to get the perfect shade! So if you are my skin tone or around the same shade as me , TRY THIS FOUNDATION OUT!
This is what the foundation looks like after blended with foundation brush.

A N D M O R E
S U N G L A S S E S!!!
Okay so Sunglasses are one of my favorite accessories of all time :) Here is a collection of some of the
shades i have collected so far. I have various looks in this collection as far as shapes and sizes. I wear sunglasses all throughout the year. I feel naked if i don't have a pair of sunglasses with me. Sometimes i'll leave a pair in whatever purse i'm using just to ensure i wont forget them :) I mainly have a solid color preference but I love a good pair of printed shades. Cheetah print is a great print that goes good with sunglasses of all shapes and sizes. In row four, third pair down ,are my go to shades. Also, in row one third pair down are another one of my go to shades as well as row four fourth pair down. In row four, the second pair down were my go to shades for a few months and then I switched back up to another pair. Row one shades are my Pilot shades. Row two glasses show cool frames all shaped differently expect for pair one and two. Row three display my over-sized shades. Pair one are more so butterfly over-sized shades, pair two are oval over-sized shades, and pair three are octagon over sized shades. Now as we approach the shades in row four let me just express how this row is my absolute favorite!! In row four pair one shades are what i like to call " my Ozzy Osbournes", pair two, are my dramatic cat eyes, pair three are my chic go to shades, and pair four are my significants, as stated in my other sunglasses post. Ironically enough my shades are NOT EXPENSIVE AT ALL!!! The most I have paid for my sunglasses are about $7 max!! The most I have paid for the glasses in row two are about the same price as well! Don't get me wrong, I will pay for a pair of fabulous name brand shades but until that day comes I will continue to buy fabulous ones at a great price :) :) :)
Best Affordable Eye Lashes at your convience! / Beauty Tips
Lashes are a girls best friend. Eye lashes compliment any makeup look and as well as enhancing natural beauty. As a consumer for this product, I look for good quality lashes at an unbeatable price. I would rather pay a max of maybe $10.00 for a pair of eye lashes verses $50, $60, + , especially when i'm shopping on a budget. Two great brands of eye lashes are ARDELL lashes and I- Envy by KISS lashes. You can find these brands at your local hair store (both ARDELL and KISS) and local drug store (mainly just ARDELL and other brands).
ARDELL Lashes offer very great quality which allows the user to reuse the lashes an excessive amount of times.
I suggest to go onto the ARDELL website, look for your eye shape, and then see what lashes would best fit your eye. Make sure to click the link at the top of the page called "LASHES 101". I personally wear the ARDELL Double Up Lashes 203. I have almond shaped eyes and these lashes fit my eye shape perfectly! No complaints, money well spent! Also, You can use the eye lash glue made by ARDELL the company or you can buy any other eye lash glue you feel most comfortable with. Relatively speaking any eye lash glue will work. Just keep in mind you want the best quality glue for a longer stay! You get what you pay for! You can even go as far as using hair bonding glue which in some cases may be a few dollars cheaper than actual eye lash glue. I have used that before and it last for a decent amount of time ( a few days) .
ARDELL Lashes Double up #203 after applied Perfectly applied on my lash line and you see no traces of glue. All you see is Lash!
ARDELL Lashes offer very great quality which allows the user to reuse the lashes an excessive amount of times.
ARDELL Lashes Double Up #203
I Envy By KISS lashes are another one of my favorite as well!! Although i do find with these lashes, certain numbers are too wide for my eye shape, but that;s why i buy different ones so i can know what works and what doesn't. I have two personal favorites. I love Hollywood 03 and Double layer 16!

No photo on me wearing these lashes, but honestly they look the same as the ARDELL #203 did on me... there is a difference however they both fit my eye shape nicely.

Betsey Johnson gives us Fashion and now Dancing With The Stars!
The Fabulous, energetic Betsey Johnson is not content with just showing she can design awesome merchandise such as shoes, she is about to prove to the world what talents she has moving in them! The 72-year old designer will compete in the 19th season of the ABC show Dancing With The Stars. The designer tells a source, she will be wearing her very own line on the show. She also spills that she will be including her signature runway move in the competition. Cartwheels, splits, and struts, this will deffinetley set her apart from the rest of the candidates. As a future viewer of the show I expect Betsey Johnson to bring excitement, flavor, and a breath of fresh air to this season of Dancing With The Stars. BJ lovers everywhere are ecstatic on her return to television hence in 2013 she debuted in her show "XOX Betsey Johnson”. In an exclusive interview with ABC , the designer gives her thoughts on what she would like her wardrobe during this season to be and how she wants to be presented on the show. She expresses alongside partner Tony Dovolani how being taken seriously is something she wants to portray. She is completely aware she is known for her crazy and "out there" personal fashion style. Seeing a different side of our favorite designer could be a good thing. With that being said , i'm sure Betsey Johnson will make her mark and keep her signature style present somehow , someway !

What to do when you experience Sudden and Tragic Hair Loss: How to Grieve, Accept, and Heal
Growing up as a young girl, HAIR was something i took pride in. HAIR was to me one of the many founding reasons why girls were jealous, why i had confidence and it was what i had groomed for years. I took pride in having long, natural, and healthy hair, that was something i always had until the year 2012. Needless to say 2012 was an awful year for me. It got even worse when all of my hair fell out.

December 2012. Photo Captured in the Fashion District.
In the year 2010, while I was in High School, I decided to cut my long hair into a short hairstyle. I always had different hair styles practically every five minutes of my life lol Eventually, I decided to let my hair grow back in without any chemicals, heat etc. I did this by going into protective hair styles ( quick weaves ,braids, sew- ins etc...) During my freshman year of college I decided to officially stop wearing weave because my hair was once again back to being long, healthy and beautiful. It took me 2and a half almost 3years for it to grow back . I then took things with my hair a step further and colored it a beautiful copper penny auburn color. Even after coloring it my hair was still long and healthy!

December 2012. Hair stopped in the middle of my back and continued to grow.
The beginning of a long journey of Depression and Insecurity:
As i washed the relaxer out of my hair, I witnessed clumps and clumps of hair coming out and falling into the sink. I completely freaked out, crawled into the bath tub, sobbed, and cried to my mother informing her on what had happened. The next day I booked a flight to come home and the day after I was at LAX boarding a that very flight. I instabtly HATED my aunt because during my stay for the "vacation" , she was awful to me for her own personal reasons. The simple fact she has her hair license yet gave me a relaxer anyway made me strongly believe she did that on purpose to hurt me. I eventually grew to forgive her but i could not initially do that until I accepted the situation and felt comfortable in my own skin. Honestly, I didn't have any emotional support and comfort from my family that I desperately needed. I felt no one sympathized enough for me to feel like they truly cared. Their whole attitudes was just like " well its just hair" and at the time, in the midst of tragedy i didn't understand that. Not only did this happen but it happened in my early years of college! whomp whomp whooooomp lol
Eventually I was forced to do the "Big Chop" because of how bad the breakage, damage, and sheading was. This big chop made it impossible for me to keep my hair in any hairstyle because of how short my hair was cut down to be. My hair was not long enough to grip for braids nor to cover tracks of a quick weave.
On my way back home December 2012, I ran into Rapper Wiz Khalifa . Atleast something good came out of that emergency flight lol
I endured my whole freshman year being insecure and self conscious because my hair fell out. Luckily for me I have a good grade of hair and it grows back fast. Unfortunately it seemed to take forever and a day for my hair to grow but any other time it would grow back quicker lol Honestly, it was hard but maintaining inner strength and seeing growth of my hair as the months went on was the only two things that lightened the hurt, embarrassment, and depression. I remember the summer after freshman year, i wore scarfs on my head the ENTIRREE summer. Till this day you wont catch me in a head scarf because that experience turned me off of them. I go to hats. Hats are Nice.😎![]() |

Significant
Lost and Found Anyone?

These Shades are so important to me. I bought them 2 years ago and they were my go to shades. After moving to college i lost them and could not find them. Just recently i went through a pink plastic container that read "winter clothes". After a few minutes of looking through my things .. wahh lahh .. these shades appear. Still in tact, no scratches or marks these shades are ready to once again reside infront of my eyes. I have a lot of memories with these shades and i thought i'd give them some shine :) (hey hey that rhymes lol)

Controversial Conversation
![]() |
Who's To blame? US or THEM (society)?
Here's the P ( my point) : Personally, I think everyone is at fault as to why society has so much influence, say so, and upper hand with whats acceptable and not acceptable. TV, Music, and the media play a huge role on the constant brainwash to the people of society. Men nowadays display it's okay to degrade women thus causing women making it okay for them to degrade themselves as well as allowing it from the men. For example, Love and Hip Hop is a TV show based off individuals who are in or trying to be in the music industry mainly. Their everyday life is shown once a week for millions of viewers to see. Granted, what's shown can all be fabricated, many buy into the show they give. Sounds harmless so far right? Well get this strippers, ex's of rappers and producers, and "video models" --> video vixens<--- all behave in savage, self disrespecting, image ruining ways. From showcasing violence, to women shaking their body parts degrading themselves for a dollar , this show showcases these behaviors to the public in a glamorizing way which in return brainwashes society into accepting this and wanting these types of lifestyles as their own. This show mainly catches the eyes of the people within the younger generations.
As a African American woman looking at other women of my culture , stripping for money is something I believe whole hardly women have abused, glamorized and made acceptable in order to "get on top". Rappers especially glamorize it as well as men in general. Granted the average single man is interested in this act, but i do believe it has gotten out of hand since the new millennium began. Even in the late 90's i would say it began to get out of hand and now its gone to far. Just a reminder it may have been an issue in early years than the ones I am stating but considering I was not alive then I can only speak on the this topic the years I have been. How much further do you have to go to degrade yourself? Sex tapes are the new scandal that people use to gain fame, money, and exposure. How much more of a sellout on themselves to reach what they consider "the glamour life?" How far of self disrespect are our young men and women willing to show? What tone does conforming with society and displaying damaged morals and values set for the younger generations to come?
As a African American woman, looking at how these guys treat women as pieces of meat and trophies is disgusting. What makes them think they can throw dollars at the (STRIPPERS-scared little girls who disrespect themselves for attention and money) and praise them as goods then disrespect the women who have set morals and values as well as goals integrity and CLASS? Its ass backwards if you ask me. If you wouldn't bring her home to show off to your family, why praise her up? Praise up the woman who's worth spending your life with and meeting your family. Also, men lets be real with ourselves here, instead of posting pictures on social networking sites of money, drugs, half naked scared little girls who are willing to self disrespect for a little piece of change lets try posting pictures of a college degrees, poems, accomplishments, something worthwhile. If your dream is being a rapper, speak on things that are worthwhile and can make a difference. Don't just conform into the "typical rapper" just to make a little money. There has to be more to a song other than a catchy hook, degrading women and reflecting on how much money you think you have and what you can buy with it. AND TO ADD THIS VERY IMPORTANT NOTE, IT IS NOT ALL BLACK MEN AND WOMEN IT IS ALL MEN AND WOMEN OF ALL ETHNICITIES WHO DO THIS! WHITE, HISPANIC, MIXED BREEDS, CHINESE, JAPANESE ETC..NO SHADE JUST A LITTLE SOMETHING FOR YOU TO THINK ABOUT.
As a African American women, looking at the parents and grand parents of all generations, I see a constant pattern of inconsistency, ignorance, and a lot of people who didn't know better that failed to give any type of knowledge to their children on life and how to move in it. If there were better parents there would be better products of children. No, Not everyone has failed and not everyone' s parenting style is the same. With that being said, IF and i say IF more women would step up and show these young girls that they're SELF WORTH is something they should never sell, let another diminish, and fill them with they are of value, maybe there would be LESS scared little girls degrading and disrespecting themselves. IF and i say only IF there were more men and less scared little boys who think degrading a woman makes a man, there would be a significant amount of bashing towards black men decreased. Black men constantly complain about the term "Black men aint sh**", but in the mean time they have set no respectable morals and values to go against odds already against them. How can you get mad at this saying when a lot of you guys encourage women degrading themselves, call women out their names, exploit women and glamorize it so well its conditioned in young minds as acceptable? Overall on men in general , the image is being painted more negatively than ever before. There's only so much more than can be said in hopes people will wake up, smell the coffee and make better choices.
Overall, this post was not to bash anyone, its just stating facts on how society is nowadays and the opinions that are really out there. Yes, shows such as Love and Hip Hop, Basketball Wives, "Bad Girls" Club, showcase horrific examples of what is being fed to the public. If you are strong enough to know that that's not HOT and not how women and men need to act I salute you and encourage you to reach out to others. If you easily conform and accept this foolery that goes on all i have to say to you is.... #FixItJesus
So again I Ask who's to blame? Us for conforming or Society for brainwashing?

Fashion Shows and style
Recently I was in a Fashion Show for a former university i attended. This is footage and photos from my first fashion show and there will be more fashion shows to come ! :)
TOY CHEST SCENE: I was chosen to be a puppet for a scene devoted to toys. We had barbie dolls, toy soldiers, superwoman etc.

FINAL WALK SCENE : JACKET: ETSY, LEGGINS: F21 SHOES: KARMALOOP TOP: CHARLOTTE RUSSE -the outfit goal was to just be creative and express who i am. I found this really cool vintage vogue wind breaker jacket , very simple yet fashionable. (back, VOGUE front, 23) . The shoes i chose to wear were the platform sneakers, they were comfortablle but a little hard to keep my balance in. The leggins are a collage of random pictures, i thought it would be really cool to have that tie into a fashion show.

FLAWLESS SCENE : HEELS: The Bone Collector heel in black, JUMPER: karmaloop.com NECKLACE: The Fashion District LA HEADBAND: Charlotte Rusee -Overall this look was urban and fashion inspired from the beyonce video "flawless" i decided to to a reverse plaid outfit. Instead of the plaid shirt hanging off of the bluejeans, i decided to go with a all plaid jumper and a bluejean shirt hanging off the hips. To top it all off i went with chucky gold chains and a solid gold headband to match the gold chains.

ALL WHITE SCENE . ( SHOES from shoe RePublica, the futuristic DRESS in white from UsTrendy.com, JEWELERY from Claire's) -This scene was the opening scene for the fashion show. I decided to go with a edgy yet fashionable piece. This dress is called the futuristic dress as seen on ustrendy.com. The dress was very flattering for my figure, showing just the right amount of skin appropriate for a school fashion show. I Glamm'd up this look with flashy diamond earrings and a flashy ring to match. Also, my neon colored heels and lipstick made another great addition to this look Not to mention my turquoise colored hair was another vibrant color catching eyes of everyone in the audience :)
